OUR GAME TODAY: TEAM LAURELVILE VS. MEAN MARION
IN THE BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN RULED BAT
Today we are assigned in The Reading Workshop to write about the sportsmanship in the classroom. First, we have to find out, ”What is sportsmanship?” Well, this may not be the same for you, but for me sportsmanship is as easy as saying “Congrats” when someone(even who you don’t like) accomplishes something that they are proud of. Or it could be something more complex like stopping to pick someones books up in the hallway, even if you are late for class. Anything nice, helpful, or useful will get you a seat in the stands of the Team Laurelville ball game!
In the classroom, there are lots of places for good sportsmanship. Like when your worst enemy gets mentioned because he/she does a good deed, makes a great blog post, or when they get their named mentioned on The Reading Workshop, you should say “Great” or “I like the post” or something like that since they did a good job. Maybe since you did that to them, when you do something you’re proud of, they might treat you the same. The Golden Rule can work with more than just adult life!!
You can also demonstrate good sportsmanship by helping out. When you notice someone’s shoe is untied, you can tell them about it(instead of watching them trip down the stairs ) and then hold their books while they tie it. Or, if they are making a blog post and would like your opinion, you can read it and then tell them about what needs done for it to be the best it can possibly be. Don’t forget compliments! If a person is wearing a cute shirt/pair of jeans/anything that you like, TELL THEM YOU LIKE IT!!!!!!! Wouldn’t you like it if they would compliment on something that you had on?? YES!! Again, the Golden Rule comes in handy!
Well, that is what good sportsmanship means to me. I hope this helps you if you are the opposite!!

You are a very compassionate person…even as a tiny-tot, you have been ready to lend a helping hand and a kind word. Nice to see your class is learning how good “sportsmanship” is good “personship”!
